Brian Porter Kemp was born in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia, USA on November 2, 1963.He has been a lifelong resident of Athens, Georgia.[1] [3]

Education

* Probably attended Elementary School in the Clarke County School District.

* Gaduated from Clarke Central High School (CCHS). [1] CCHS was desegregated in 1971.[4]

* Studied Agriculture at The University of Georgia.  and graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration.. [1][2][3][7]

Business Career

* Kemp owned a number of agribusinesses, financial services, and real estate companies.[7]

Political Career

* Elected as a Georgia State Senator in 2003 and served in that position until 2007. [1]

* Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Brian to be Georgia Secretary of State in 2010 and he served in that position until 2018. [1][2]

*Elected to be Governor of Georgia and has served in this role since January 2019.[1][2]

Family

* Brian married Marty Argo Kemp and they have three daughters. [2]

Father: William L. Kemp II

* "[Brian] Kemp was born into a powerful family with a history of political prominence in Athens, Georgia, as the son of William L. Kemp II.

William L. Kemp II was a member of the Georgia Legislature, as was his grandpa, Julian H. Cox. Amy Porter Kemp, Lucy Kemp, and Jarrett Kemp were his three grandkids when he died on Saturday, June 24, 2006." [7]

* "William L. Kemp, II, 70, of 1051 Castle Drive, died Saturday, June 24, 2006. Born in Atlanta, Mr. Kemp was the son of the late Wilson Kemp, Martha Lewis Williams, and Betty McKay Kemp, stepmother. He was a third generation graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and Gridiron Secret Society. Mr. Kemp enjoyed a long and distinguished career in real estate and finance and was active in many civic, professional and charitable organizations." [8]

I want to make note here that the similarities of the tenants of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity are closely in line with Self Religion. A brief description of what self religion is defined by Wikipedia:

"A self religion (or self-religion) is a religious or self-improvement group which has as one of its primary aims the improvement of the self.^[1] The term "self religion" was coined by Paul Heelas^[2] and other scholars of religion have adopted/adapted the description. King's College London scholar Peter Bernard Clarke builds on Heelas's concept of self religion to describe the class of "Religions of the True Self".^[3]"

Information about The Gridiron Secret Society

"Gridiron Secret Society is a collegiate secret society at the University of Georgia.^[1] Gridiron has been called "the highest honor a male student may receive on the University of Georgia campus.".^[2][3] It has also been recognized as one of the "Top 10 Secret Member's Clubs" in the world.^{[4]" [11]} 

Julian H Cox Jr. is probably Brian Kemp's Uncle his Obituary reads:

"Julian H. Cox Jr., 72, a life-long resident of Athens and a respected member of the business community for over 50 years, died June 10, 2008 after an extended illness. Julian loved the outdoors, his family and friends and lived his life with passion. Julian was the son of the late Mr. Julian H. Cox Sr. and Bunnie Porter Cox. He graduated from Athens High School in 1954 and the University of Georgia in 1958, where he was a member of the Eta chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity, the Gridiron Society, the Interfraternity Council, the X Club and Vice Chairman of the Student Council. Upon graduation, Mr. Cox joined Hutchins, Cox & Stroud, a family real estate and insurance company. He later founded Julian H. Cox Realtors, LLC. Mr. Cox was a member of the Athens Board of Realtors, recipient of the Phoenix Award and a life member of the Million Dollar Club. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Touchdown Club of Athens, Athens Country Club and First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary S. Cox; grandson, granddaughter, stepchildren, sister (Ann Cox Cabiniss), nephews, niece, two grandnephews; and five grandnieces. A memorial service was held on Friday, June 13 at First United Methodist Church of Athens." - [5] [emphasis mine]

* Brian's Grandfather, Julian Hoyt Cox Sr. was a member of the Georgia Legislature. [2][6] Information from geneological site Geni says:

"Julian H. Cox Sr., was a member of the Georgia Legislature, and his eighteenth-century ancestor James Habersham successfully lobbied to institute slavery in Georgia, becoming the colony's governor and building a fortune from the family's slave-worked rice plantations of Silk Hope, Forest Dean, and Beverley."
